U.S. regulators have many options for investigating deceptive advertising and marketing claims by universities.
The University of Phoenix will pay $191 million to settle deceptive advertising charges, National Public Radio reports. According to the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the for-profit university's ads "gave the false impression" that it could provide job opportunities with employers such as AT&T and Microsoft. The FTC says the ads targeted minorities, military veterans, and service members and their families.
