Building a Better Auditor: Why Nominate an Emerging Leader?

I believe that the Emerging Leader program is an important investment in the future of our profession, and I urge all IIA members to nominate deserving candidates for the 2023 Emerging Leaders program by the May 12 deadline. Why is the Emerging Leaders recognition so important? For me, being named an Emerging Leader was both an honor and testament to the hard work and dedication that I have made to my career. It was also a pivotal moment in my professional journey, as it provided me with access to resources and opportunities that have helped me grow and thrive in my role as an internal auditor. I was able to meet more people in the profession, many of whom have helped me improve my critical thinking and provide better solutions and assistance to my clients.

One of the most valuable aspects of the Emerging Leaders program is the professional development opportunities it provides. As an Emerging Leader, I was given the opportunity to speak at the 2022 Ignite Conference in Las Vegas, and I viewed my time throughout that convention as invaluable. Another key benefit this recognition afforded are the networking opportunities. As an internal auditor, I have found that networking is critical to building relationships and staying up-to-date on the latest trends and best practices in our field. Emerging Leaders has allowed me to connect with other talented professionals, share ideas and insights, and collaborate on projects and initiatives that are shaping the future of our profession.

I strongly encourage all IIA members to nominate deserving candidates for this early-career distinction. This program is an investment in the future of our profession, and it provides Emerging Leaders with the resources, opportunities, and recognition they need to grow and excel in their careers. As an Emerging Leader myself, I can attest to the transformative impact that the program can have, both on an individual level and for the profession as a whole. In my career, I strive to be the best version of myself, and Emerging Leaders has enabled me to continue to do this. I have taken on more challenging roles and responsibilities within my organization.

Perhaps most importantly, the Emerging Leaders program is a recognition of the potential and promise of young professionals in our field. By nominating talented individuals, we are sending a clear message that we value their contributions and believe in their ability to make a difference in our profession.
