It’s very challenging for me to switch off from work once the workday is finished. I manage to calm my mind and let myself go by dancing the tango.
Tango is a very complex dance that requires maximum concentration — listening to your partner and the music and tracking the flow in the room. In this dance, there is one body with four legs. In the embrace, you become one with your partner, listening to them, understanding them, and putting yourself in their shoes so that the dance flows. Occasionally, you open the embrace to look at the other couples, react, adapt, and then return to the embrace with maximum concentration.
The tango requires technique classes, partnering, musicality, and always practice. Although there is muscle memory, it’s not as simple as riding a bicycle. You must keep everything well-calibrated. I have been dancing tango for more than 10 years, and I will never stop learning and improving my dance. Perhaps that is part of its appeal. It’s a truly amazing and complex challenge.
